Everest Base Camp 18 days Trekking

We start the trek with a day in Kathmandu for guided sightseeing tour of the major Hindu and Buddhist sites before taking an unforgettable flight to the mountain airstrip at Lukla, high above the Dudh Koshi Valley. From here we ascend through alpine forests and fascinating Sherpa villages to the prosperous village of Namche Bazaar, the trading capital of Khumbu. Along the trail, colourful prayer flags and Buddhist monuments are seen against a backdrop of glorious Himalayan mountains.
Two nights in Namche and a day tour up the Bhote Koshi valley to Thame village provides essential acclimatization as we explore trails that are less frequented by the western trekkers. Continuing higher through the main valley, we arrive at Gorak Shep and ascend to the amazing Kala Pathar (5600m). Views of the surrounding peaks and glaciers including the black rocky ramparts of Everest’s southwest face are simply awesome. We have a day to visit the Everest Base Camp. We walk across the Khumbu glacier to the site of the Base Camp at the foot of the immensely impressive Khumbu icefall. Our return journey will take us to Thyangboche Monastery, the most important centre for Buddhism in the area, before ending our trek at Lukla. On our return journey, we yet again get another chance to experience the exciting mountain flight to Kathmandu.

Day 3 early in the morning flight to Lukla (2800m) and Trek to Phakding. And O/N Fakding. (2652m) 3 hr
In the early morning we take the spectacular flight from kathmandu to Lukla (2827m), The flight itself is awe-inspiring as we fly parallel to the Himalayan giants bordering Nepal and Tibetan China. Flight time is about 40 minutes to the airstrip build by Sir Edmund Hillary and the Sheraps in the mid – 1960s. After landing we will have time to explore the village. And after a hearty second breakfast, we begin the trek by descending towards the Dudh Koshi River, where we join the main trail to Namche Bazaar, just above Chaunrikharka (2713m). The walking is easy and after passing through the small village of Ghat (2550m), it is a short walk to Phakding.
Day 4 Phakding to Namche Bazar. O/N Namche Bazar. (3446m) 5 hr
Today the trail ascends gradually towards Jorsalle, crossing suspension brides over the Dudhkoshi River before arriving at the entrance gate to Sagarmatha National Park. After crossing three more bridges the trail ascends through alpine and rhododendron forests where we should see local deer, birds and other wildlife as we follow the trail for around 4 hours to reach Namchhe Bazaar. The highest Sherpa market in the world.
Day 5 05 Rest days in Namche Bazar. O/N Namche Bazar. (3446m)
We remain at Namche for a second night to allow for proper acclimatization to the altitude. Namche is a prosperous village situated in a large, protected hollow. . It gained its importance during the period when Tibetan salt was traded for the lowland grains of Nepal. Today a limited amount of trade exists at Namche and Tibetans are often seen in the village trading rugs and Chinese-made goods, clothing, salt and dried meat.
It is recommended that you take the opportunity to see both the sunrise and sunset views from the national park above the village.
After breakfast a number of options exist: trek towards Thame (3,810 m) along the beautiful Bhote Khola River valley, or visit the National Park Headquarters to see the interesting displays of Sherpa lifestyle and culture, mountaineering in the park, and flora and fauna. Others may prefer to relax in the friendly atmosphere around the village.
Day 6 Trek Namche Bazar - Tangboche 3 To 4 Hrs. (3867m)
From Namche, we climb towards the park headquarters and follow a contouring trail high above the Dudh Koshi River. Above Namche the route to Tangboche becomes visible with the monastery seen below the summit of Everest and surrounded by Himalayan peaks. On today’s walk there are opportunities to spot the local wildlife, including the beautiful Danphe Pheasant often seen among the bird and silver forest between Shanasa and Trashinga, and Himalayan on the high ground above the trail. After reaching the re-forestation nursery at Trashinga, the trail drops steeply to cross the Dudh Koshi at Phunkitenga (3250m), where we take lunch.
In the afternoon we pass water-driven prayer wheels and ascend, initially steeply, through pine, fir, black juniper and rhododendron forest towards Tangboche. The monastery and our lodge are located in a beautiful meadow surrounded by towering Himalayan peaks in a truly peaceful and tranquil setting. The most notable peaks seen from here are Kantega, Ama Dablam (perhaps the most beautiful peak in the region), and of course Mount Everest (8848m).
Day 7 Trek Tangboche – Dingbuche. O/N Dingbuche (4350m)
After an early breakfast, we tour the largest and most important monastery in the region, Tangboche. Following the Imja Khola we go through Pangboche and over a short hill to the small village of Dingbuche.
Day 8 Rest day in Dingbuche. (4350m)
After having a breakfast, we will go to the Chhukung (4970m) to see panoramic view of Mountain and have a lunch in Chhukung . Than we will back to the Dingbuche for over night stay.
Day 9 Trek Dingbuche to Labuche. (4930m)
We traverse around the flanks of Lobuje Peak, bearing left into the upper Khumbu valley. After a steep ascent, we gain the main Everest trail and the village of Labuche.
Day 10 Trek Labuche - Gorak Shep (5165m) (3 To 4 Hrs.) Kala Patar 2 Hrs. (5545m)
About 3 hours beyond Labuche, we reach Gorak Shep, the site of the 1953 expedition’s base camp. An evening ascent of Kala Pattar (5,545m/18,188ft) is highly recommended for hopefully a sunset view of Everest or next day, early in the morning to see the sunrise view of mountain. The climb takes about 2 hours and can be hard work, but the effort is rewarded by the classic view of Everest and the Khumbu Icefall, as well as Lhotse, Nuptse, and Pumori immediately above.
Day 11 Hike up to Kalapatar (5545m) and back to same place Gorakshep.
Today as you walk you can see the icy-glacial pond and icebergs down below of Khumbu glacier. The walk brings you to Gorakshep which has two teahouses and was base camp for the early 50’s expedition to Mt. Everest. At the top of Kalapattar the view is beyond imagination and Everest looks within a stones throw. The panoramic view from this spot makes the hard climb feel worthwhile.
Day 12 Trek back to Feriche. (4240m)
We retrace our steps to Lobuje, and keep going down the Khumbu valley. Passing the snout of the Khumbu Glacier, we reach a line of memorials to Sherpas who have died on Everest. With the stunning peak of Ama Dablam in the background, we pass the small settlement of Dugla, and continue to Pheriche. This is a large village with many tea-houses.
Day 13 Trek back to Tangboche. (3867m)
Following the main Everest trail down the beautifully scenic valley, we pass through Pangboche and re-cross the river before climbing to the famous monastery at Thyangboche. It now has a brand new monastery, the largest in the area, as the old one was destroyed by fire a few years ago. Built in the traditional style, with its gleaming copper roofs, it is as grand as ever.
Day 14 Trek back to Namche Bazar. (3440m)
A steep descent of around 1500ft/500m leads through bird filled rhododendron bushes and fir trees to the Dudh Kosi River. Crossing this on yet another suspension bridge, we climb up the opposite side of the valley to reach the contouring path leading back to Namche Bazaar. Namche is the perfect place to enjoy some well-deserved celebrations!
Day 15 Trek back to Lukla (2800m).
A steep descent for 600m/2,000ft leads to the suspension bridge crossing the Dudh Koshi River. We cross the river twice more before a rising traverse up the hill-side, past numerous tea-houses to Lukla.
