  • Langtang Gosainkund Helambu Trek on April 2012

    Namaste,

I visited Nepal in April 2012 after booking the Langtang Gosainkund Trek with Peace Nepal Treks. From my first e-mail contact with Mr. Nir Lama the Peace Nepal Manager. I was updated regularly and an itinerary was suggested and all my queries answered quickly.

I was met at the airport by Nir and the next two weeks trekking proved to be a fantastic experience with all the plans failing into place.

Nir introduced me to Asha Lal, my guide and he made my trek run smoothly, being professional knowledgeable very thoughtfull and most importantly fun! I felt safe and looked after at all times Asha Lal managed to locate a hot cup of tea and an extra blanket just when it was needed most!

Back in Kathmandu Nir was very happy to help me organize the rest of my stay from booking bus tickets to recommending local restaurants.

My Nepal experience was made extra special with Peace Nepal Trek, Nir and his team giving me sincere, honest and friendly services. I would not hesitate to recommend the company for anybody planning a trip to Nepal.

  • EVEREST BASE CAMP TREK – 19 DAYS

When we originally booked our trip into the Himalayas with a very highly recommended Peace Nepal Treks, we opted for the 15 day Everest Base Camp trek complete with the Lukla fly-in. However, the bad weather that prevented us from flying from Kathmandu was a definite blessing. Sitting on the airport floor I could tell that Bill, our guide, was somewhat agitated.
“Boring,” he kept muttering. “Weather may be bad all week” he added.
We’d heard about the recent bad weather in Nepal that had played havoc with trekking and we heaved a sigh at the prospect of returning to Kathmandu airport every day for a week.
Then Bill showed us the alternative: The Jiri walk-in was the route that trekkers and mountaineers used to take before the Hillary-Tenzing airstrip was built in 1964. It would take 6 or 7 extra days trekking to get to Lukla’s altitude but by then we would be fitter, stronger, more acclimatized and much less vulnerable to sickness. That was all the persuasion that we needed.

My advice to any would-be trekkers who are thinking of flying to Lukla before starting the trek: DONT! From the very first day it was obvious that we’d made the right choice and for that we thank our guide, Bill. The extra 5 days from Jiri was chock full of fantastic people (both Nepali and foreigners), amazing untouched scenery & wonderful food. (The Sherpa Stew was a delight) The first few days were undoubtedly the hardest but by the time we reached Namche (3440 meters) we were fit as fiddles and proud as punch. And then there was Bill and Maila, our guide and porter. It simply wouldn’t have been the same without them. They were a breath of fresh air; honest, funny, informative, caring and utterly reliable, far from the falseness of the multi groups belonging to the corporate travel companies. Even when we were a pain in the backside (as i’m sure we often were) their patience and understanding never wavered. Maila never once complained about our stupidly overweight baggage that he had to carry, even when he was suffering from a swollen ankle. My offers to carry my own pack were always met with a dismissive wave and a huge grin. By the time we reached Namche we had learned that their advice concerning health and fitness was of the greatest importance. WE TRUSTED THEM. We followed the rules: don’t drink alcohol higher than 3000 meters, take your rest and acclimatization days drink plenty of water and go s-l-o-w-l-y…And play the occasional game of “Dumbled”. We had no need for diamox, walking sticks, thermals or the silly Lukla fly-in. We had them. Simple Simple dimple. From the first steps of Jiri to the final steps at Everest Base Camp we never had so much as a headache or a bout of dizziness and for that we must give credit to Bill & Myla. The whole of descend (5 days) made us feel very smiley with a quiet sense of accomplishment and again we must credit this to Bill and Myla. OK, much of the effort, the sweat and the aching and the despair were ours, but we couldn’t have done it without them.

Thank you very much Bill, Maila and Nir for an unforgettable experience.

And to anyone considering a trek in Nepal I cannot recommend Peace Nepal Treks highly enough. Guys it was amazing

  • Everest Base Camp Trek, October 2011

We are extremely grateful for the work accomplished by Nir and his team. We were 4 friends arriving to Kathmandu and Nir directly took care of us from the airport with a warm hello.

We did the trek of the Everest Base Camp. It was an amazing experience that we lived with our guide Bil that became our friend. On the way we’ve seen some magic landscapes and we’ve met some very nice people from the country but also lot foreigners trekking like us. We had some very nice moments sharing our experience of Nepal with these people from completely different origin. To be surrounded by these monsters that are the huge mountains of the Himalaya is a great experience. Even if it became a bit hard to breathe in the end especially because we are not at all experienced in this kind of things, we really enjoyed this trek. And finally I would say that this is part of the trip: “no pain no game” :-)

we finally had to shorten the trip (quicker way back to Lukla and Kathmandu, and earlier flight to Switzerland) because of a death that happened in my family at home. Nir managed extremely well all the administrative things related to that. And Bil and Nir behaved like real friends in this difficult moment of my life.

Because of all these points, I strongly recommend Peace Nepal Trek for your trip in Nepal. We kept in contact with Nir and Bil

  • Langtang Tamang Heritage Trek

My wife and I have just finished a 14 day trek which included the Langtang region as far as Kyangin Gompa and then The Tamang Heritage Trail.

It was an incredible 14 days made complete with our Guide Prem and support staff Tirtha.Tirtha we discovered was also a good cook. He made us some fantastic meals.

Both Prem and Tirtha were very considerate as my wife started the trek at the end of taking antibiotics so for the first two days she found the going pretty tough but came through with flying colors.

Both Prem and Tirtha became very good card players. My wife taught them how to play Rummy so every evening to pass the time we would all sit down to a few hours of Rummy.

This is our Second trek with Peace Nepal and we hope won’t be our last.

Thanks to Nir and his team for making our trip a memorable one.
