Upper Dolpo is a remote region located in the Far West of Nepal. The region is protected as the Shey Phoksundo National Park. Upper Dolpo lies North of the Dhaulagiri Range that borders the Tibetan plateau. Most of the inhabitants of this region still rely on trading Tibetan salt as it is nearly impossible to grow anything in this region.

Our trek starts from Dunai and on the fifth day of our trek we reach the famous Shey Phoksundo lake. The alpine fresh water lake is religiously significant to the Tibetan culture as a number of stupas and a Gompa surround the lake. From Phoksundo, we trek to Shey Gompa via Kang-La pass. In Shey Gompa, we visit the famous Crystal Monastery, a place of religious significance to people of Dolpo.

Our trek comes to a stop in Juphal after 22 days of trekking. From Juphal we board a 35 minute scenic flight to Nepalgunj and catch another flight to Kathmandu.

Day 1 Arrival at the Tribhuvan International Airport. Flight to Nepalgunj.
After your arrival in Kathmandu our representatives at the airport will help you catch another flight to Nepalgunj, transfer you to your hotel and help you in checking in.
Day 2 Early morning flight to Juphal. O/N in Dunai.
Today an early morning flight takes us to Juphal. Form the Airport we walk for about 2-3 hours to reach our overnight camp in the beautiful village of Dunai.
Day 3 Trek to Ankhe. O/N in Ankhe.
From Dunai we trek to Ankhe. In Ankhe we camp at the entrance of the Shey Phoksundo National Park.
Day 4 Trek to Sulighat.
Today our trail takes us through small ups and downs through forests and stone staircases as we reach the river banks. We stop at a bridge near the village of Ryajik where we camp overnight.  
Day 5 Trek to Phoksundo Lake.
Today we trek to the famous Phoksundo Lake. The alpine fresh water lake is religiously significant to the Tibetan culture as a number of stupas and a Gompa surround the lake.
Day 6 Leisure Day in Phoksundo
A day of leisure in Phoksundo gives us enough time to awe at it’s beauty.  
Day 7 Trek to Phoksundo Khola O/N in Ringmo
Today our trail extends along the shores of the giant lake as we reach the banks of the Phoksundo Khola and stop for an over night camp.
Day 8 Trek to Phoksundo Bhanjyang O/N in Chumyambe.
From Phoksundo Khola a hike of about seven hours takes us to Phoksundo Bhanjyang.
Day 9 Trek to Shey Gompa via Kang-La pass. O/N in Mendojersa.
Today an early morning ascent brings us to the Kangla Pass. A descend from the pass takes us to Shey Gompa where we stay over night.
Day 10 Rest day at Shey Gompa the crystal monastery O/N in Shey Gompa.
Another day in Shey Gompa gives us the opportunity to visit the famous Crystal Monastery, a place of religious significance to people of Dolpo.
Day 11 Trek to Namduna Gaun via Saldang LaO/N in Shey Gompa.
Namduna Gaun is where we camp today. The famous Namgung Monastery is located in Namduna Gaun.
Day 12 Trek to Saldang,O/N in Daljung Kharka.
From Namduna Gaun we make a series of climbs to reach Saldang, the largest village in the Dolpo region.
Day 13 Trek to Yangze Gompa O/N in Mejair.
Yangze Gompa is an unexplored and lesser frequented area of the Dolpo Region and is home to the old Bon-Po Monastery.
Day 14 Trek to Sibu O/N in Nupu Kharka.
To reach Sibu we retrace our steps back to Saldang from where we follow a trail along the river bed.
Day 15 Trek to Jeng-la PhediO/N in Foth gan.
A walk along the river bed and a steep climb to the bottom of Jeng La (4900m) brings us to Jengla Phedi. We stay over night in Jengla Phedi.
Day 16 Trek to Tokyu Gaon via Jeng la
After a morning climb to Jeng La we again descend towards Tarap Chu, finally arriving in Tokyu Gaon.
Day 17 Trek to Dho Tarap O/N Gambuk Camp
Dho Tarap is a beautiful village surrounded by irregular stone walls. Few Tibetans and the Magar people can be found in this region.
Day 18 Rest Day at Dho Tarap. O/N Majiuthang Camp
Another day of leisure in Dhora Tarap helps us regain our strength for the rest of the trek.
Day 19 Trek to Tarap Khola ( Kamakharka)
From Tarap our trail descends towards a wide valley and passes through a gorge as we arrive in Kamakharka where we set up a camp on a meadow.
Day 20 Trek to Khanigaon O/N Thangiep Camp
Today our trail mostly passes through and along side the gorge as we make our way to Khanigaon, where we set up an over night camp.
Day 21 Trek to Tarakot O/N Khal Chaur Camp
Today the trail passes through forests and descends into another gorge as we finally arrive in Tarakot, a place beautified by colourful terraced fields.
Day 22 Trek to Dunai,/N Khal Chaur Camp
Today we complete the circuit around the Dolpo region as we arrive in Dunai. In Dunai we celebrate the success of our three week trek.
Day 23 Trek to Jhuphal
The trek to Juphal is a short walk along the Bheri river until we reach the airport there.
Day 24 Fly from Jhuphal to Nepalgunj to Kathmandu
From Juphal a 35 minutes scenic flight takes us to Nepalgunj from where we catch another flight to Kathmandu.
Day 25 Leisure at Kathmandu
A day of leisure in Kathmandu.  
Day 26 Departure from Kathmandu
Day 26 marks the end of our unforgettable trekking experience as we transfer you to the Tribhuwan International Airport for your flight home.

Return transfers from International and Domestic airport to your hotel, one night stay at the Hotel, all government taxes and national park entry fee, TIMS Card (Trekking Management System), required number of experienced English speaking guides and support staff (we pay for their daily wages, insurances, trekking equipments, food and accommodation), airport taxes, accommodation during the trek, emergency first aid kit carried by the support staff.

Travel Insurances: -

Travel Insurances are compulsory for clients trekking or climbing with us. The insurance should cover you in case of emergencies like accidents, altitude sickness and ambulance and helicopter rescue charges if required. Please carry a copy of your insurance papers while travelling in Nepal and do send us a copy as well. This will help us in making all the necessary arrangements in case of any sort of emergencies.
